The CSCMP Toolbox was the result of a five-year effort by CSCMP's Education Strategies Committee (ESC) to develop a project that would introduce the common body of logistics knowledge to every business student enrolled in an academic institution. The ESC was first chaired by Thomas W. Speh, James Evans Rees distinguished professor of distribution at Miami University of Ohio, followed by Rick D. Blasgen, president and chief executive officer of CSCMP, and Thomas L. Freese, principal, Freese & Associates, Inc.
To accomplish the task of producing the CSCMP Toolbox, the organization partnered with a team from Mississippi State University led by Stephen A. Le May, professor of marketing and logistics, who created the content and format of the kit. Since its release three years ago, this set of instructional materials has been a highly sought after resource, used globally by academics in logistics-related disciplines, as well as by industry for training purposes.
