To speak on this timely subject will be Mr. Scott Rasmussen with Abbott (www.abbott.com). Mr. Rasmussen will delve into Abbott Labs Goods Distribution Process (GDP) and how they manage regulatory, cold chain and quality distribution practices effectively utilizing technology and proven practices.
Scott Rasmussen has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is currently studying for the APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional certification. He has worked at Abbott for over 20 years in various roles from controls engineer, software engineer, project manager, systems analyst, validation, software quality assurance, and finally Quality Assurance Program Manger of distribution control systems in Abbott’s Global Pharmaceutical Operations division working on product serialization, track and trace, and integration of new DCS systems into a newly developing distribution.

Director, Enterprise Process Improvement Engineering, The Kroger Co.
Greg is responsible for setting the direction for and leading the completion of improvement efforts for 36 manufacturing sites. Having completed his own Six Sigma and Lean training, he is developing a team of talented professionals to support the improvement efforts for the entire Kroger company in our End-to-End initiative. He is entering his eighth year with Kroger, three of which he spent as a successful plant General Manager. Prior to working at Kroger, Greg served as Supply Chain / Logistics Manager at Lever Brothers, Department Manager at Unilever HPC, and Manager and Manufacturing Manager at Unilever.

Manager of Lean Six Sigma Deployment, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies
Bill is a certified Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Master Black Belt (MBB) that has delivered over $6 million in project savings. In his current role, he has developed Ingersoll Rand’s program from the ground up including the reporting metrics and mechanisms, training material, project selection process, and Belt certification requirements. Bill has lead deployment in 3 plants, 2 business functions, and 3 business transformation projects, and taught in excess of 750 hours of Belt and Champion training. Prior to working at Ingersoll Rand, Bill served as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Plant Engineer at Johns Manville, a Senior Engineer at Anchor Hocking Specialty Glass Company, and as a Nuclear Submarine Officer for the United States Navy.

David is a highly-experienced operations strategist with over 18 years of leadership experience in the automotive, building products, and energy generation industries. He excels at instilling the manufacturing 'basics' (Lean, quality, and production metrics and systems) and at managing the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow. David has driven the application of lean and six sigma tools and techniques to allow production to function even better, achieve profitability goals, and sustain the improved performance. He has a proven track record with scorecards associated with customer relationships, financial performance, and employee morale. David has held a variety of managerial positions including Operations Manager, Plant Manager, and Production Manager at well known companies including Cummins Engine, METECNO (ASI Division), and Heroux Devtek.

Our speaker: Rick Kaglic, Senior Economist Eaton Corp.
Rick Kaglic is senior economist with Eaton Corporation, a diversified industrial manufacturer with 2007 sales of $13.0 billion. Eaton is a global leader in electrical systems and components for power quality, distribution and control; fluid power systems and services for industrial, mobile and aircraft equipment; intelligent truck drive-train systems for safety and fuel economy; and automotive engine air management systems, power-train solutions and specialty controls for performance, fuel economy and safety. Mr. Kaglic is the economist covering its fluid power and aerospace end markets and, along with Chief Economist Jim Meil, the U.S. and European economies. Prior to joining Eaton, Rick spent a year as Chief Economist with the Washington state Employment Security Department and ten years as senior business economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. His primary focus was business economics and regional economic issues. He has written widely on current business conditions, housing markets, and labor dynamics. Rick completed both his Graduate and Undergraduate work at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He is an active member of the National Association for Business Economics as well as past-president of its Chicago chapter. Rick is a member of Governor Ted Strickland’s economic advisory council and has acted as a special advisor to the Indiana, Wisconsin, and Washington budget forecast councils.

CSCMP Thailand Roundtable, a newly formed rountable for logistics professionals and academics in Thailand, will be conducting its second roundtable event on November 20, 2008 at the Thai National Shipper’s Council Meeting Room in Bangkok. Thailand RT is among one of the 94 (and fast growing) RTs around the world that are organized by volunteers who are members of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
Our events aim to enhance the knowledge of interested practitioners and academicians in supply chain management and logistics. In 2008-2009, we are interested in finding logistics strategies and solutions to combat high fuel costs. Tour of Dunkin' Donuts Northeast Distribution Center
How did New England’s own Dunkin’ Donuts grow from one store in Quincy, MA to be the world’s largest coffee and baked goods chain, serving more than 3 million customers per day? By 2007 there were 7,988 Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin’ Robbins stores worldwide, including 5,769 franchised stores in the US and 2,219 internationally. Dunkin’ Donuts sells 52 varieties of donuts and more than a dozen coffee beverages as well as an array of bagels, breakfast sandwiches and baked goods. This store count includes Baskin’ Robbins, some combined and some stand alone.
They grew with great products and great supply chain and logistics. Fresh coffee and donuts don’t just happen.

Program Details: This relatively new (24 months) 235K sq. ft warehouse and distribution center is the largest of Dunkin’ Donuts five National DCPs. This facility serves all of the New England states plus upstate NY. They ship to about 2500 points (stores and commissaries), processing 850 store deliveries, 500 – 1000 e-com orders and 10 exports internationally per day.
We will tour the freezer, cooler and ambient temperature warehouses, as well see warehouse selection and QA and process areas. Voice picking was recently integrated with the WMS for case and full pallet picking process. We also expect a demonstration of the Onboard Computer System.
Registration Fee: Non-members are always welcome. The registration fee is $40 if prepaid by Monday, November 17. Payment after this date will be $45. For full-time students, the prepaid fee is $15.

Patty Healy: Director of Marketing and Brand Relations, National DCP Patty joined the Northeast DCP in 2002 as the Director of Marketing and Brand Relations, NEDCP. Prior to joining the supply chain side of the business, Patty worked at Dunkin’ Brands for 9 years in roles that included Operations Management, Field Marketing and leading the New Product Pipeline Team. Today she is responsible for the Marketing Communications team which serves as the voice of both the National and Regional DCPs, ensuring messages are clear and timely to our customers: the Franchisees, Store Managers, Dunkin’ Brands and DCP employees.
John Ditmars – Vice President of Operations Dunkin’ Donuts Northeast Distribution Center John oversees the direction and coordination of the activities of the Fleet and Warehouse Managers and Supervisors. He works with all department heads to ensure customer service goals are met while maintaining high standards In safety, service and efficiency.
David Liguori – National DCP Chief Operating Officer
As a strong member of the Executive team, David Liguori provides management oversight for the smooth and efficient operation of all four regional Dunkin’ Donuts DCPs. He carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with the operation as a whole as well as working collaboratively with the DCP staff, Regional Boards, National Board, Dunkin’ Brands and vendor partners to develop and implement programs designed to ensure the operational and strategic success of the DCPs, franchisees and Dunkin’ Brands.

Roger W. Woody, Supply Chain Strategy for EMBARQ Logistics, was elected to the office of Chair of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals’ (CSCMP) Board of Directors. At EMBARQ Logistics, Woody is responsible for the development and design of Supply Chain and Logistics solutions for both the company’s core business as well as for non-affiliate customers.
A 20-year Logistics and Supply Chain management veteran, Woody has held management positions with Hallmark Cards, Yellow/Roadway Corporation, Delfour, and Sprint.
